The tour business was founded by long-time local and passionate 4 wheel driver and outdoors enthusiast, John Lampkin. His personal experiences of the island inspired him to create Bruny 4×4 Forest to Coast Adventures to share his knowledge of the island. John will guide you to breath-taking scenic places around the island as well as showcase the island’s gourmet produce.
Bruny Island is only 362 sq kilometres in size so by the end of the tour there will not be much of the island that you have not experienced. The island has an incredibly diverse environment and in our comfortable, accredited 4-wheel drive vehicles, Bruny 4×4 Forest to Coast Adventures can give you full access, all year round, taking you to places most people never see.
You will venture to lookouts, overlook Adventure Bay, visit the historic Cape Bruny Lighthouse. Marvel at the majestic towering sea Cliffs of Dolerite that are over 200 metres above sea level. See where Captain Furneaux landed on Bruny, let North Bruny and South Bruny showcase some of their untouched, untamed spectacular places and visit the island’s beautiful beaches.
Photo opportunities abound so make sure you bring your camera. Twitchers will enjoy capturing photos of all the amazing birdlife Bruny has to offer, perhaps including the rare swift parrot. If we’re lucky, eagles may put on a magical show for us, and at the right time of the year, we’ve even been known to see whales.
At the end of the tour, we will check out the Bruny Island Chocolate and Fudge factory where you will have the opportunity to purchase some of their wonderful award-winning chocolates and fudges. If there are other local producers that you would like to visit, just speak with your driver in the morning and we will be able to change the itinerary.
Bruny 4×4 Forest to Coast Adventures will provide lunch to highlight all the wonderful produce the island has to offer. This includes oysters, smoked Atlantic salmon, octopus, award-winning smoked meats & cheeses, and berries (seasonal) from the Island Berry Farm. Along with the island’s soft drinks, wines, ciders and Tasmanian boutique beers which will be offered alongside your lunch.
